(quick reminder: the first pulse track was used on the studio recording of comp. 23g, from *five pieces 1975*. that is, the first that most people would have heard or been aware of - very possibly the piece was worked up on the road prior to that..?) of course, the pulse track concept does not really come into its own until the following decade.centrifugehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00110896886246132385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475713415991677653.post-87146705800577741232010-02-22T09:21:17.120-08:002010-02-22T09:21:17.120-08:00hi mark - thanks for your kind comment, hope you e...hi mark - thanks for your kind comment, hope you enjoyed the "comeback" :)

[incidentally - i did eventually reply to your last comment on the previous post, don't know if you've seen that..!]centrifugehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00110896886246132385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2475713415991677653.post-68013896351538555562010-02-22T01:42:06.587-08:002010-02-22T01:42:06.587-08:00Sorry guys, I'm late to the feast. (the relevant article is day two, session one of the original braxtothon, oct. 2007.)

[that is... i *think* this was the point i wanted to make..! like i said above, i started the article months ago - and that included the insertion of the first asterisk... but not the comment it was intended to match up with. so, perhaps i meant something completely different? :) ]

2. that's right, the berlin concert includes comp. 6c as well. (this is coming up next, of course.) the retrospective numbering implies that it's the earliest of all the various circus pieces, but in that case it had to wait a long time for an outing... small wonder perhaps that it then got played at least twice by the same band. (not sure it could have worked with wheeler.) it was dedicated to leroy jenkins, btw.

3. lots of these short-step lines around at this time, 40f being just one other example.

4. comp. 58, of course, is the big band circus march from the '76 creative orch. project.
